They are now being held off on Rote5 Island off West Timor. Authorities say they were on their way to New Zealand when they were intercepted6.
 
And tributes continue for Victoria’s first female Premier7 Joan Kirner who has died after a long battle with cancer. She was seventy-six. Ms. Kirner was a teacher before entering politics and became Premier in 1990. Australia’s first female Prime Minister Julie Gillard has described Ms. Kirner as an inspiration and a mentor8. 
 
And in South Africa an American tourist has been mauled to death by a lion at a game park on the outskirts9 of Johannesburg. The lion jumped through the open window of a car carrying two people. A woman died from her injuries. A man is seriously injured in hospital.
