Good morning everyone. Now the former head of the Commonwealth1 Bank David Murray has warned that Australia’s superannuation system has to change. Economists6 are expecting Australia’s economic growth to remain lacklustre when the latest national accounts are released today. A survey of
analysts7 by Bloomberg shows they expect gross product to increase by point seven percent in the first three months of this year, which is a slight improvement on the December quarter but that will still take the annual rate of growth further blow trend from two and a half percent to two point one percent.
To the markets. The Wall Street was a bit turbulent overnight. The Dow lost twenty-eight points. The NASDAQ and the S&P500 were both down point one percent. In London the FTSE also lost a third of a percent.
Checking community prices. West Texas Crude is trading at sixty-one US dollars a barrel. Tapis Crude is at sixty-six US dollars a barrel. And gold is trading at eleven-hundred-and-nighty-three US dollars an ounce. The Australian dollar is back up to seventy-eight US cents following the RBA’s decision to keep rates on hold yesterday.
