Police in Dallas has confirmed the death of a gunman who opened fire at his police headquarters early this morning. The suspect was killed during  fire in a suburban¹ parking lot.

At the location in Hutchins where the suspect's van is parked, our swat snipers shut up the engine block of the suspect vehicle with a 50 caliber² sniper rifle, disabling the man.

Law enforcement officials said they found several explosive devices near the Dallas police headquarter's building. 

 

 

Hillary Clinton has been running for president for 2 months now, but she held her first big rally today. NPR's T reports from New York's R island.

The speech is heavy on policy, at times a little wonky and at other times quite personal.  As Clinton talked about learning perseverance⁴ from her mother who was on parents abandon her, Clinton's main teach. She said she is running to help all Americans get ahead.

It's going to be a long campaign and already she has get some criticism from those on the left for not talking enough about Wall Street reforming trade. 

 

 

President Obama is using his weekly address to convince House Democrats⁵ to change the rules on the bill they against him fast-track trade authority.  They rejected part of the bill yesterday.  NPR' S reports House republicans say a vote breaks up for another next week.

House democrats effectively denied president Obama fast-track authority to finalize⁶ trade talks involving a dozen countries around the pacific zone. Those trade talks are at the heart of president strategy to raise the US profile in the pacific.  A white house spokesman downplays the house phone as a temporary procedural problem and says the administartion will continue to pursuit fast-trade authority. 

 

 

A main hunt for two inmates⁷ who were escaped from a upstate NY prison is continuing. The search was temporarily called off due to heavy rains. The officials are now focusing on a rural area near the Kenladia border. A prison employee at the Clinton Correctional Facility was charged yesterday with smuggling⁸ tools to help the men escape. More then eight hundred officials have joint⁹ the search, that the two convicted murders broke out the prison 8 days ago. You are listening to NPR news in Washington.
