A growing trend on women. They are swapping1 their favourite beauty products for similar versions made for men, and saving big bucks2 doing it. ABC's Becky Worley has more.
Want to save on your fancy facial-care
regiment3? Easy! Try borrowing from the guys! The number of women using men's products is on the rise. Added bonus, you save money, too.
-Recently, there's been this explosion of male
grooming4 products.
On this site, telling us a man's facial cream. Of the 32 reviews, 26 were written by women. Really? Okay. I go to a bunch of department stores and ask the clerks in the man's department to help me find products similar to popular women's products.
-And get this! The men's products cost roughly half of what their corresponding women's products would have cost.
And I'm not just talking about shaving balm and
lotion5.
-Lip therapy, bad guy BB cream. BB cream? For guys?
And the price differences compelling. Men's line Antony has a vitamin C sherm. That's 45 dollars an ounce. This department store brand is 59 dollars an ounce.
These grey colour acid PO pads from Men's line
Jack6 Black were 95 cents a treatment. A comparable department store version for women was 2.93 a treatment. But did these men's products smell and feel, well,
manly7?
-It doesn't smell at all. Practically unscented. Honestly, I would not know that this is a men's product, you must be told me specifically.
But don't take my words for it. We asked tiwns Anna M* and Gina M* to try them out. And they go: the men's!
-It made me want to use less
makeup8.
-Definitely, present nice go you.
-There's this sort of one-size-fits-all element to male beauty products, and sometimes what women want is to just simplify things and make things a little more cost-effective.
And given the price difference, it might be
worthy9 heading over the men's department to see if a few of their niceties would work for you.
For Good Moring America, Becky Worley, ABC News, Ok* Carlifornia.
-Got that?
-Yeah, and that's a great great tip. Thank you, Becky.
