各位亲爱的听众朋友，这里是晨间7点档“话说地道美语”。我是Juliet。非常高兴与您在这美丽的清晨相见。我们每个人都有自学英语的能力，关键是遇到问题得不到解决，这是最烦恼最纠结的事儿。因此，为满足一些听众的需求，今天我们将对第12课的习题进行详细的讲解。
【习题详解】
1 Please complete the following sentences according to the Chinese.
（1） 已经决定了，你就别沮丧了，沮丧也没有用呀。
The decision has been made and it's no use crying over spilled milk.
【难点解析】1 第一个分词中要用现在完成时，有的人问道用现在完成时和一般过去时有什么区别呢？用现在完成时是指动作发生在过去，但是对现在还有影响。一般过去时就是动作在过去发生了。例如本句话中很明显可以知道是一个人在安慰另一个人，叫他别做徒劳无功的伤心了。那么“已作出决定”发生在过去，我们看第二个分句的时态，是is,是一般现在时，表示这个人现在为此而伤心。那么，“做出决定”这件事现在还影响这个人，因此，这里要用现在完成时。2 现在完成时的被动结构为：have been + 过去分词。
（2）公司已经已经不给你升职了，你就别做徒劳的伤心了。
Your company has made the decision that you couldn't get promoted and don't cry over spilled milk.
【难点解析】1 has made这里用现在完成时，原因请参见第一道习题。2 decision后面的that you couldn't get promoted是由that这个引导词引导的同位语从句，同位词是：抽象性名词decision, 这个同位语从句起到补充说明同位词的作用。3 get promoted，提升（职位），这里用get表示一种状态的转变。例如：由原来的经理助理现在变为经理了，就要用get promoted. 美国人很喜欢用get+动词的过去分词来表示一种状态的改变，例如：get killed，被杀了；get canned，被解雇了等。
2 Please find the mistakes in the following sentences and correct them.
You have been against the law. It's no use to cry about the spilling milk.
正确表述为:You have been against the law. It's no use crying over spilled milk.
【难点解析】1 to cry改为动名词crying。It is no use后面接动词通常是动名词，做真实主语，不用动词不定式做真实主语。2 cry about中的about要改为over。虽然cry about也是因为......而哭的意思，但是cry over spilled milk这个是个习语，是约定俗成的说法，不能改的。就这个问题出现同样错误的还有在spilled milk前加上了定冠词the,要把它去掉。4 spilling要改为spilled, 在第13课中，我们讲了spill与被修饰的名词存在被动关系，牛奶是被别人打翻的，不是自己打翻在地上的，所以要用spilled这个过去分词来修饰。如果这个动词与被修饰名词存在主动关系，则用现在分词，例如：boiling water，沸腾的水，boil这个动作是由water自己发出的，因此，用现在分词。
