We are, to all intents and purposes, our minds. They, more than anything else, define the kind of person we are. Yet, as Barack Obama recently observed while launching a 100-million-dollar brain intiative, our inner spaces are also almost impenetrable. Fantastic progress has been made, using techniques like MRI scans to analyze¹ the working brain.
