　　This recall is a new blow to the South Korean electronics giant, which has been dealing¹ with a brand crisis due to its fire-prone flagship Galaxy² Note 7 smartphone.

　　三星最近一直在应对因旗舰智能手机盖乐世Note 7存在起火风险导致的品牌危机，此次召回事件对三星而言无疑是雪上加霜。

　　The recall affects 34 models of Samsung top-load washers sold between March 2011 and this month.

　　召回涉及2011年3月至2016年11月期间售出的34款三星顶揭式洗衣机。

　　Samsung has received 733 reports of excessive vibration³ or the top detaching from the chassis⁴, which resulted in nine injuries, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

　　美国消费品安全委员会称，三星收到了733起洗衣机过度震动或顶盖脱离机身的报告，这些事故导致9人受伤。

　　It is the biggest washing machine recall in history in terms of units and reported incidents, the CPSC said.

　　该委员会称，这是史上召回数量最高、事故报告数量最多的洗衣机召回。

　　John Herrington, senior vice⁵ president and general manager of home appliances, Samsung Electronics America, said: "Our priority is to reduce any safety risks in the home and to provide our customers with easy and simple choices in response to the recall."

　　美国三星电子的家电部高级副总裁、总经理约翰·赫林顿表示：“我们的首要任务是降低任何家居安全风险，为客户提供容易和简单的召回选择。”

　　Samsung China said the recall does not affect washers sold outside North America and none of the recalled models were sold in China.
