An outspoken1 Manhattan federal prosecutor2 known for crusading against public corruption3 says he was fired after refusing to resign. Preet Bharara made that announcement in a tweet. He was appointed by Barack Obama in 2009.

The Chicago River turned bright green Saturday after it was dyed for St. Patrick's Day celebrations this weekend. The dye was spread in the river from the back of a boat ahead of a St. Patrick's Day parade downtown.
