Russia's president and the Syrian army say a nationwide ceasefire agreement with opposition1 rebels is set to begin. The deal was confirmed by the Turkish foreign ministry2. Vladimir Putin says the ceasefire will be guaranteed by his country and by Turkey.

Fans are leaving flowers and tributes for film legend Debbie Reynolds at her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Reynolds died Wednesday at the age of 84, one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died.

Zookeepers at the Chester Zoo in England are celebrating the birth of one of the rarest giraffes in the world. The calf3 stands almost 6 feet tall and is doing well. Just 1600 Rothschild's giraffes remain in the wild.
