President-elect Donald Trump1 held his first press conference since the November election. Trump called a leaked report of Russia having compromising information on him "a tremendous blot2 on the intelligence community's record" and said his two sons would take over the Trump business empire.

Unexpected winter weather has hit Western states as emergency crews geared up for a more-snow-and-flooding Wednesday. An avalanche5 blocked a highway in Colorado, trapping three commercial trucks and sweeping6 down a tangle7 of trees and rocks in its path.

And researchers in China have identified a new species of gibbon in remote forest among the border of Burma and named it after a Star Wars character, Luke Skywalker. Scientists concluded they add a new species after studying the primate's distinctive8 brow and genetic9 analysis.
