3. Iraqi federal police unit pushed deeper into western Mosul on Monday, getting control a neighborhood near the Tigris river. An Iraqi official said IS militants7 were fighting back with snipers, anti-tank missiles and suicide car bombs, describing the clashes as fierce.

4. And a 6-week old otter8 pup is receiving around-the-clock care in the UK animal welfare charity, after being orphaned9 following a storm. The pup who has been named Daffi was found without his mother at the side of the river, following storm Doris which hit UK last week.
