The Senate appears headed for a showdown over President Donald Trump's Supreme¹ Court nominee². Democrats³ have secured the votes for a filibuster⁴ to block the nomination⁵ of Neil Gorsuch, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is poised⁶ to change long-standing Senate rules -- the so-called "nuclear option" -- to get Gorsuch confirmed.

The White House is condemning⁷ what it describes as a heinous⁸ chemical attack against civilians⁹ by the Syrian government. Spokesman Sean Spicer said the attack is reprehensible¹⁰ and cannot be ignored by the civilized¹¹ world.

A spring storm has dumped up to a foot of snow in some parts of Colorado. Forecasters had predicted about an inch, but the snowstorm dumped at least 8 inches in Denver and up to a foot in the mountains.

And a stunning¹², almost 60-carat diamond known as "The Pink Star" sold for a record 71.2 million dollars at a Sotheby's auction¹³ in Hong Kong on Tuesday. The sale of the oval mixed-cut diamond reportedly set a new world record for any diamond or jewel sale.
