Today’s lesson is the first in a three-part Business English Pod series on cold calling, the skill of making unsolicited telephone sales calls. Unsolicited means “not asked for.” So cold calling is the skill of making a sales call to someone who is not expecting you.
这节课是三节课中的第一部分，将涉及到“无约电话”，也就是向别人推销的电话。unsolicited的意思是“不是别人主动要求的”，所以打“无约电话”也就是给那些不期望接你电话的人打销售电话。
Cold calling skills are very useful in many parts of business life. To cold call successfully, you need to be

persuasion2 is fundamental to business success, whether you are trying to convince a customer to buy something or your boss or colleagues to accept your point of view.
