Donald Trump1 Jr. has released an email chain, revealing his willingness to meet with a Russian lawyer last June, who he thought had damaging information on Hillary Clinton. Tuesday afternoon, the president came to his son's defense2 in the controversy3, calling him a high-quality person and applauding his transparency.

In the Bronx, law enforcement officers lined up for blocks outside the funeral of slain4 New York City police officer Miosotis Familia, who was fatally shot last week as she sat in a police vehicle.

The Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate will push back the start of its August recess5 to do more work on legislation and deal with Trump nominations6 to staff the Executive Branch. A five-week recess had been scheduled to start on July 31st, but now could be delayed until the week of August 14th.

Bottles of wine and liquor almost as old as the republic itself were recently discovered behind a wall at a museum in Union, New Jersey7. The Liberty Hall Museum says, as it was restoring its wine cellar, it discovered almost three full cases of Madeira wine, dating back to 1796.
