Yukiya Amano, director general of the IAEA, says the world has seen a "big achievement" in preventing nuclear terrorism over the past six years.

We should stay very vigilant¹ and the possibility is real, the risk is there. So we need to cooperate among member states; each country needs [to] enhance their nuclear security."

Amano has also acknowledged China's efforts in fighting nuclear terrorism, and its cooperation with other international partners.

"China has been very active in the fight against nuclear terrorism. I visited your country last year, and I saw the construction site of the center of excellence² of nuclear security. It is a very impressive site. China and the United States cooperated to install the equipment. This is a very good example among countries, between China and United States in this case, to contribute to the safety of the world. "

Along with preventing terrorism, nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula have also been one of the leading topics at the summit.

Amano says North Korea's nuclear tests have obviously violated international resolutions, and members of the Security Council reacted in accordance with their mandate³.
