China's top political advisor4 has met with a delegation5 from Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komei Party.

Yu Zhengsheng, chair of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has told the Japanese delegation the Chinese side is hoping the Abe administration is going to abide6 by the four principles signed between the two sides.

That agreement has allowed for a resumption of high-level talks.

It also allows for the two sides to hold differing opinions about the status of the Diaoyu Islands.
