A 28-year-old candidate who has never held public office stunned1 the democratic party by beating one of its house leaders. Alexandia Ocasio Cortez defeated Congressman2 Joe Crowley of New York, once thought of as a possible future House speaker.

South Carolina Republican Governor Henry McMaster won his primary runoff after getting an endorsement3 from President Trump4. And former presidential candidate Mitt5 Romney won the republican primary for Utah's Senate seat.

A federal judge has ordered immigration authorities to reunite separated families within thirty days. The ruling follows a lawsuit6 from the American Civil Liberties Union.

And a Japanese space probe has arrived at an asteroid7 about 170 million miles from Earth. The plan is for the probe to blast a hole in the asteroid, collect samples and bring them back to Earth.
