The fridge is where you put food to keep it cold. 冰箱是冷藏食物的地方。

So, my fridge is empty which means¹ I don't have any food, so I decide to go to the market. 因此，“我的冰箱空了”的意思是“冰箱里没有食物了”，因此我决定到市场去。

The market here means the supermarket, a place where you can buy food, 市场在这里是指超级市场，可以购买食物的地方，

or it could be a smaller market, what we might call a corner market; that would be a small store. 或者它可能是个小型市场，我们称之为街角市场；也就是小型商店。

Often, they are located² at the intersection³ — at the corner of two streets. 它们常常坐落在十字路口——两条街道相交的角落。

I get to the market and I pick up some food. 我赶到超级市场后，拿了一些食物。

"I pick up some French bread," which is a type of bread, “拿了一些法国面包”，它是一种面包，

I pick up "a bag of apples," I get "a few bananas, some pasta⁴," because I love pasta, some "tomato sauce⁵," for my pasta, "and a cooked chicken." 拿了“一袋苹果，一些香蕉，一些意大利面”，因为我喜欢吃意大利面，拌面吃的“番茄酱”，和“熟鸡肉”。

In many American supermarkets, you can buy a small chicken that is already cooked for you, so you can just take it home and eat it. 在很多美国的超市里，你能买到已经煮熟的小块鸡肉，这样你拿回家就能吃。

If you are lazy, like me, this is a very good way to get some good food, and it is not very expensive. 如果你和我一样很懒，这是个获得好吃食物的好方法，而且还不会特别地贵。

I think it's about maybe six or seven dollars for a cooked chicken. 我想熟鸡肉的价格大概是六七美元的样子。

I like to take the chicken and put it into the pasta and tomato sauce and mix them all together. 我喜欢把鸡肉放到意大利面和番茄酱里，并把它们混合在一起。
