　　It is not a job—it is a lifestyle

　　摄影不是一种工作，而是一种生活方式

　　People have this idea—you go out as they do—on a trip—happily take some pictures and that is the way we do it!

　　人们有这样的想法-就像别人那样走出去-在旅途中愉快地拍些照片—这就是我们工作的方式

　　But this is a much more concentrated, focused form of travel

　　但这是一种更专注更专心的旅行

　　Basically we are not going anywhere unless we can get a picture out of it

　　Te whole reason for going to a place is to photograph it

　　Usually with a particular subject in mind

　　With reduced budgets then even more so

　　We come into a place and very much bear down hard looking to make a picture that will illustrate some part of the story

　　You describe as a 'page stopper'—a photograph stand out

　　There are a lot of factors that elevate a photograph from a snapshot

　　That is a portfolio of mine and yes there are some 'page stoppers'

　　这是我的一个作品集，是的，有不少是“让人驻目的凝幅”

　　I would describe them as pictures that have great visual impact

　　我会把它们描述成具有巨大视觉冲击力的图片

　　The idea is that that picture will grab the viewer's attention

　　And make that person want to stare at it

　　Maybe raise some questions and want more information

　　They might read the caption and maybe read the story

　　So that is our job—maybe stop the people from 'page flipping'

　　By having a picture that is so arresting that it stops people in their track

　　Track Two

　　Most great photography have a number of things going for it

　　The composition and the light

　　There is almost always a moment of time that is captured that makes that particular photo unique

　　You could probably describe most every photo we have been scrolling through as having those characteristics

　　Some pictures just happen and you get lucky

　　But most pictures are the result of hard work

　　You come upon a situation and you shoot it

　　You take many frames and you choose one

　　The photographer sees the photograph before he clicks the shutter

　　That is what we call vision

　　You have something in your mind, and your mind's eye that come to you

　　Could be something you have planned for weeks

　　The point is you have something in your mind, in your eye—that make it less luck

　　And more searching—you are actually hunting for something you actually have in there, in your brain

　　And you see it and click and you put it into making a file

　　Each individual face with an expression on it—it is like I took individual portraits

　　Of 50 to 100 monks in that picture but it looks like they have been individually lit

　　Spend a lot of time with that one—funny, amazing expression on their faces

　　为了捕捉他们脸上那有趣、令人不可思议的表情，我着实花了很多时间
