Belgium has unveiled its new zero-emissions polar base. The energy self-sufficient station will be a model for future research stations.
The "Princess Elisabeth" station was inaugurated in a Brussels warehouse¹ by Crown Prince Philippe. The station is to be used to study the climate changes in South Pole with the least possible impact on the terrain². Solar panels and large wind turbines will provide the energy sources.
