President Trump1 is dropping his bid to have a citizenship2 question on next year's census3. Instead, he is instructing federal agencies to compile the information from existing data bases.

Wind and Rain from tropical storm Barry have begun to reach the Louisiana coastline. The storm is expected to reach hurricane strength and make landfall by early Saturday.

Evacuations have been ordered from two towns on Hawaii's Maul-island due to a brush fire. Some flights to the island's main airport have been diverted.

And the US Coast Guard says a cutter intercepted4 a submarine suspected of smuggling5 drugs. Video shows Coast Guard officers boarding the sub and ordering those on board to open the hatch.
