The Mayor of Baltimore declares a state of emergency as violent clashes break out following the funeral of a man who died after being injured in police custody1. Bill Vanko from Baltimore radio station WBAL tells us how the situation in the US state of Maryland has escalated2 over the past days and weeks. At least 4,000 are known to be dead after a devastating3 earthquake in Nepal. We hear how volunteers have joined the search for survivors4 over the internet. Patrick Meier, Director of Social Innovation at the Qatar Computing5 Research Institute explains the concept of "digital humanitarians6". We look at the significance of of the new US and Japan military cooperation agreement. From Boston, we are joined by Nina MacLaughlin, a journalist who quit her job to become a carpenter and has written all about her experiences. From Singapore, we are joined by David Kuo of the Motley Fool.
