President Donald Trump1 said he will lift sanctions on Turkey after the NATO ally agreed to permanently2 stop fighting Kurdish forces in Syria and he defended his decision to withdraw American troops, saying the U.S. should not be the world's policeman.

A judge has directed the State Department to begin producing within 30 days documents related to the Trump administration's dealings with Ukraine. The records are sought under a freedom of information act request by American Oversight3, an ethics4 watchdog that investigates the Trump administration.

Authorities on Wednesday found 39 people dead in a truck in an industrial park in England and arrested the driver on suspicion of murder in one of Britain's worst human-smuggling tragedies. Police were reconstructing the final journey of the victims as they tried to piece together where they were from and how they came to be in England.
