Australia is increasingly being caught in the middle of political plays as the trade tug-of-war ramps1 up between China and the US. The country is now faced with the task of potentially needing to choose a side, as its friendship with the US and economic dependence2 on China is tested. So where does Australia stand on a global level with the re-election of its Coalition3 government, and will it regret banning Huawei from supplying its 5G networks?

James Laurenceson, Acting4 Director at the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney spoke5 with China Plus contributor Debby Ng (NING) for more.
