(单词翻译)
The United States is the world's largest jailer, says Paul Wright, the founder1 and Executive Director of the Human Rights Defense2 Center in the United States.
Inmates3 in the United States face human rights abuses at every stage of the criminal justice system. These abuses include being denied adequate medical care and mental health treatment, being locked in solidarity4 confinement5 for long periods of time, and being left vulnerable to sexual assault by staff and prisoners.
For almost 30 years, Mr. Wright and his organization has been working to reveal the stories of these human rights violations6.
Our reporter Xu Yawen recently spoke7 with Mr. Wright from the Human Rights Defense Center, and filed this report.
