The Reserve Bank has slashed1 it's inflation forecasts for the next six months, but sees better economic conditions ahead.

The bank pointed2 to a range of improving indicators3 from employment to vacancies4, business surveys and trade data.

Rates have been at 2 percent since the last easing in May.

Underlying5 inflation was now seen around 2 percent for most of next year, down from 2.5 percent previously6.

However, it highlighted China, and Asia in general, as a key source of uncertainty7 with growth in the region now likely to be slower than first thought.

The Australian share market is being led lower by energy and mining stocks.
