More than 1.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week, a staggering figure that shows many employers are still laying people off as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The new layoffs1 come as spikes2 in new virus cases have forced six states to reverse their moves to reopen. Those states include: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Texas.
