Militants³ have attacked a luxury hotel complex in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, killing⁴ at least seven people and injuring dozens more. The assualt began with an explosion outside a bank and a suicide bombing in a hotel lobby. People were filmed running from the compound after gunfire and blast were heard. The Islamic group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. That's the same group that carried out the 2013 Westgate Mall attack when 67 people were killed. People who escaped the hotel described what happened as chaotic⁵.

Port Augusta hit near record high reaching 48.9 degrees. Extreme heatwave conditions are also forecast for NSW and the ACT with farmers concerned the weather is now threatening crops.
