Firefighters are warning more homes will be lost as dozens of out-of-control blazes burn across Tasmania. The Tasmania fire service has issued 12 emergency warnings. The fires are threatening areas in the state's south-west including Glen Huon, Franklin and Geeveston as well as communities in central Tasmania near Waddamana. Firefighters have confirmed at least three properties have been lost in Glen Huon saying the residents "undoubtedly¹" saved their lives by deciding to leave early.

The 25-year-old footballer is wanted by Bahrain on vandalism charges, which he maintains are politically motivated. Scott Morrison wrote to the Thai prime minister last week, saying al-Araibi (al-ah-ray-bee) is a refugee who has been given a permanent protection visa. It's understood Mr Morrison has not heard back from the Thai government.
