And Queensland says some of its restrictions will be rolled back from Saturday. It comes as the federal government launches its new COVID tracing app. More than a million people downloaded it within the first four hours of its release last night, and while it's received the backing of health groups, and the Business Council of Australia, digital rights advocates are not convinced.

The US, which now has almost one million cases, has begun to lift lockdown measures — despite recording5 its largest single day spike6 in cases on Friday. Meanwhile parts of western Europe appear to be getting on top of the pandemic with both Italy and Spain recording their lowest daily death toll7 in more than a month.
