II. Language and Culture Notes
1. It's a small world. This expression is used when friends, especially those who haven't seen each other for long, happen to meet unexpectedly in some faraway places, or when newly-acquainted5 people suddenly discover that they have mutual6 friends, or relatives, or live very near each other, etc. The expected response to it is 'Yes, it is'.
2. Have a good day is used when people part from each other. It's also used instead of 'Goodbye' in a casual situation. The similar expressions are 'Have a good day / afternoon / evening / weekend / trip', etc.

1. Windy, isn't it? When an Englishman is meeting a stranger or a mere7 acquaintance and feels the urge to talk, he often tries to start a conversation by making some remarks about the weather. For example, he may start with 'A nice day, isn't it?', 'It's cold, isn't it?', etc. And it is always polite to agree and say, 'Yes, it is' when one is spoken to.
2. What do you do? is equal to 'What do you do for a living?' or 'What is your job?'.
e.g. ?a What do you do?
?a I'm a doctor.
3. Would you like a coffee? 'A coffee' here means 'a cup of coffee'. Examples of this kind are often found in spoken English, such as 'What about a whisky a glass of whisky?', 'We want two teas two cups of tea.'
