Hello everyone, I am Catherine Callaway at the CNN Center in Atlanta with a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

Crews are fighting at least seven active wildfires around California. One near Sacramento destroyed 60 buildings, including an entire neighborhood cul-de-sac. A fast-moving fire in southern California threatening 12,000 homes there. Television, radio emergency communication towers on top of a mountain are also now in jeopardy1.

The president of Colombia has swine flu. This is according to a spokesman2 for President Alvaro Uribe. He is in stable condition now. Doctors are monitoring him. He started feeling a bit sick on a plane. He was coming home from a summit3 with South American leaders.

Dozens of people in New Jersey4 were outraged5 when they heard Libya's leader was coming to their state. More than 200 held a protest in Englewood yesterday to tell him not to come. They were concerned Muammar Gaddafi would be staying in a tent on the grounds of Libyan diplomatic6 residence during a visit to the UN next month.

"He wants to come and put a tent to New Jersey where so many of the victims were from. It's absolutely horrible."

"It took a few days, but the Libyans finally on Friday afternoon sent me a formal written notice that they were not going to be come to Englewood."

Gadhafi's trip is part of an effort to try and repair his image.

Hurricane Jimena is headed toward Mexico's Baja California state. Forecasters say it's a powerful Category 4 storm. It's packing winds of about 145 miles per hour. That storm is expected to approach the southwestern tip of Baja California early tomorrow. The hurricane watch is in effect for that area.
