And the floodwaters are receding5, but the dangers are not over yet. Residents in Western Australia's flood-drenched north are being warned to remain on alert as the water drains away. And the strains of the last few days are beginning to show Carnarvon residents are starting to ask why more hadn't been done to ease the severity of floods.
 
And last night's lunar eclipse was an anticlimax6 for some keen sky-gazers. Cloud cover spoiled the rare event for some in Brisbane where the best views were promised. They had been hoping to see the Moon bathed in a blood-red hue7.
