 RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Former Real Madrid and Brazil star Roberto Carlos believes Cristiano Ronaldo is upset due to his failure to win last week's UEFA best player in Europe award.

Ronaldo refused to celebrate his two goals in Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over Granada at the Bernabeu on Sunday, saying afterwards he was "sad and Real Madrid knows why".
The 27-year-old denied his discontent was linked to Andres Iniesta's triumph2 at the UEFA ceremony, but there is a belief Ronaldo feels he is not valued both within the club and outside it.
"I think Cristiano is upset because the award for the best player in Europe went to Iniesta," Carlos said in comments published by Globoesporte on Monday.
"I would say to Cristiano that he continues doing what he does best on the pitch. If he doesn't want to celebrate the fans will do it for him."
Carlos also had words of support for compatriot Kaka, who is yet to feature for Real Madrid this season amid3 speculation4 of a rift5 between the midfielder and coach Jose Mourinho.
"It's important that Kaka continues working as hard as he can for his own image," Carlos said. "I think the day Kaka decides to leave he can do so with his head high due to everything he has achieved."
