The Chinese ambassador to Australia has criticized Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Yasukuni Shrine1. In a signed article in The Australian, Ma Zhaoxu says Abe’s homage2 to the shrine is not a domestic affair or a personal act. Although 70 years have passed since the end of World War Two, some forces in Japan still fail to face up to responsibilities for past crimes, in sharp contrast to Germany’s approach to history. He stressed instead of trying to turn back the wheel of history, Abe should take credible8 measures to correct the wrongdoing and gain the international community’s trust.
