　　两只蟑螂正在一条胡同里的垃圾堆上大吃特吃，一只开始谈论一家新开张的餐厅。

　　"I was in that new restaurant across the street," said one. "It's so clean! The kitchen is spotless, and the floors are gleaming white. There is no dirt anywhere-it's so sanitary⁵ that the whole place shines."“我去了街对面那家新餐厅，”它说，“那儿太干净了！厨房里一尘不染，地板洁白得闪闪发亮。哪儿都没有脏东西，那地方整洁卫生得都发光了。”

　　"Please," said the other cockroach¹ frowing. "Not while I'm eating!"“够啦，够啦，”另一只蟑螂皱着眉头说，“不要在我吃饭的时候说！”
