Sandy heard a strange³ noise

and listened.

and told me about it.

in the kitchen.
We were both afraid.
“Who is it?” Sandy asked.
“It’s only me,” a voice⁹ said¹⁰.
Then we saw¹¹ father.
“I was hungry,” father said,
“so I made¹² some sandwiches.
Do you want one?”
