“lap”是指“（人坐着时)腰以下到膝为止的大腿部”。因为笔记本电脑是可以放在大腿（lap)上(top)的电脑，所以称为 laptop。“dictate”在这里表示“使（人)听写”?如：The teacher dictated² vocabulary words to the students.老师让同学听写单词。
所以每当妻子坐在他大腿上，他就感觉好像回到了办公室，秘书(secretary)坐在他大腿上的场景，就不知不觉地口述起信来了，与秘书的风流韵事(affkir)因此曝光!
