　　故智将务食于敌，食敌一钟，当吾二十钟；忌杆一石，当吾二十石。

　　所以明智的将军，一定要在敌国解决粮草，从敌国搞到一钟的粮食，就相当于从本国启运时的二十钟，在当地取得饲料一石，相当于从本国启运时的二十石。

　　Hence a wise general makes a point of foraging1 on the enemy. One cartload of the enemy's provisions is equivalent to twenty of one's own, and likewise a single picul of his provender2 is equivalent to twenty from one's own store.
