TopLandmark Iran Nuclear Deal SealedAnchor:
A
landmark4 Iran nuclear deal between Iran and six major powers has been
finalized5 today after several rounds of marathon talks and delays extending over the course of 12 years.
CRI's Wang Mengzhen has more.
Pending6 to be released, the text of the deal is believed to allow access for UN nuclear
inspectors7 to Iran's military sites, but Iran could have the right to challenge the request.
At the same time, the sanctions can be restored in 65 days if Iran violates the deal.
Speaking ahead of the final meeting at nuclear talks in Vienna, Austria this afternoon, Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif appreciates the effort of all parties involved.
"I believe this is a historic moment. We are reaching an agreement that is not perfect for anybody, but it is what we could accomplish and it is an important achievement for all of us. Today could have been the end of hope on this issue but now we are starting a new chapter of hope and let's build on that."Federica Mogherini, European Union foreign policy chief, also hails the deal as a sign of hope.
"I think we all know that the decision we are going to take today is not only on Iran's nuclear programme, but it is much, much more than this. It is a decision that can open the way to a new chapter in international relations and show that
diplomacy8,
coordination9, cooperation, can overcome decades of tensions and
confrontations10."The 100-page deal contains a main part and 5 five technical
annexes11, including sanctions, nuclear energy cooperation and other key issues.
The deal also includes a UN Security Council draft resolution, which will cover a lift of UN arms
embargo12 and International Atomic Energy Agency's
investigation13 into Iran's possible nuclear program.
Aside from the deal, IAEA chief Yukiya Amano says a "roadmap" has also been signed between it and Iran.
The roadmap enables the agency to make an
assessment14 of Iran's possible nuclear programme by the end of 2015.
However, the fresh deal has been opposed by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it a "bad mistake of historic proportions.""Our concern of course is that the
militant15 Islamic state of Iran is going to receive a sure path to nuclear weapons. Many of the
restrictions16 which were supposed to prevent it from getting there will be lifted and in addition Iran will get a jackpot, a cash
bonanza17 of hundreds of billions of (US) dollars, which will enable it to continue to pursue itaggression and terror in the region and in the world."The agreement was first unveiled by a senior Iranian
diplomat18, speaking off-record before the official announcement this afternoon.
In early April, a framework agreement was reached between the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany (P5+1) and Iran.
For CRI, I am Wang Mengzhen.
For more on the Iran nuclear agreement, I earlier

China Unveils Latest Details of Anti-Japanese WarAnchor:
Chinese scholars have unveiled latest details of the country's casualties and loss of property during the Japanese invasion.
According to their research, Japanese troops committed more than 170 major
massacres21 between 1937 and 1945.
CRI's Luo Wen reports.
Reporter:
The research results were unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to the released figures, Chinese forces killed, wounded and captured over 1.5 million Japanese troops during its War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
Meanwhile, over the course of 14 years of the war, China suffered a total of over 35 million military and non-military casualties, with military casualties reaching more than 3.8 million.
The combined number accounted for a third of the total casualties of all the countries in WWII.
The country also suffered property loss valued at more than 100 billion dollars, using the exchange rate of 1937, while the indirect economic losses reached as high as 500 billion dollars.
Li Zhongjie, former deputy director of Party History Research Center of CPC Central Committee, says the research evidences
atrocities23 committed by Japanese forces and refutes denials by Japanese rightists over Japan's invasion of China.
The Japanese government has been reluctant to acknowledge the Nanjing
Massacre20. But it's widely known that the Nanjing incident was not the only
atrocity24 the Japanese troops had committed in China. The evidence we have collected shows that they committed a total of 173 major atrocities with each victimizing at least 800 Chinese
civilians25."Li adds that the Kuomintang Party forces also played an important role in the war.
He says KMT's important role was shown in its organization of the frontline battlefield, its launching of and
participation26 in more than 20 key battles and organization of the expeditionary forces in the battlefield of Yunan, southwest China, and Myanmar.
Wang Jianlang, director of the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,
reiterates27 that the Chinese people made great contribution to the final victory in WWII.
"The Chinese forces pinned down the Japanese
invaders28, forced them to drop the plan to move
northward29 and helped prevent the Russians from fighting on two fronts. Meanwhile, the war in China distracted the Japanese who were trying to march south, gaining time for the
allied30 forces on other major battlefields to prepare for the final counter attack."China has planned a series of activities this year marking the 70th anniversary of the world's anti-fascist war and its victory in the war against the Japanese aggression.
The highlight of the memorials is a military parade set for September 3 at Tiananmen Square that will be attended by a group of foreign leaders.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has also invited Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for the event.

China Urges Philippines to Ditch its South China Sea CaseChina is urging the Philippines to ditch its attempt to solve South China Sea
territorial31 disputes with an international tribunal.
Chinese Foreign
Ministry32 spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Tuesday that China will refuse to recognize the conclusion of the
arbitration33 requested by the Philippines over the two countries'
maritime34 sovereignty dispute.
The Philippines filed its arbitration case at the Hague in 2013.
The hearing on

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is stressing that the country will take "more precise and effective" measures to promote stable and reliable economic growth.
Li Keqiang made the remarks while meeting on China's current economic situation with
economists42 and entrepreneurs in Beijing.
CRI's Huang Shan reports.
Reporter:
Premier Li Keqiang voiced his full confidence in the overall development of China's economy.
"China's economy still boasts
remarkable43 tenacity44, potential and
flexibility45. There is little doubt that China's potential for medium-high growth
remains46 underpinned47 by strong, long-term fundamentals. The global economic recovery is full of twists and turns. China should push forward its own development with stronger confidence and greater efforts."Economists and entrepreneurs at the meeting say China's economy has been
stabilizing48 in the first half of the year.
However, they also point out there are still challenges and difficulties faced by enterprises.
The Executive Director of Sinolink Securities, Li Zhiping, gives more details.
"We see a decrease in the growth rate of all three
sectors50, especially in investment and trade. The growth rate of the service industry is fine. So is that for consumption. The most important decline was in investment. Both investment and trade will see a 4 to 5 percent drop in growth rates, compared to the last quarter."To meet the challenges, the government has
intensified51 efforts to boost economic growth, especially in the investment field.
As growth
momentum54 within the Chinese economy struggles against downward pressure, Premier Li Keqiang notes the country needs to adopt a proactive fiscal policy and stable
monetary55 policy, while maintaining a balance between growth and economic restructuring.
"We must adhere to the correct
orientation56 of macro control, to stabilize growth, and promote
structural57 reform. Risks will be absorbed and digested to ensure the economy runs within a reasonable range. We should not only give priority to GDP growth, but also promote development in growth, prices, employment, incomes and environmental protection."Premier Li stresses that the very essence of economic upgrading and development lies in reform and innovation.
He has further called on enterprises to make full use of innovation, thus to enhance competitiveness in their respective markets.
For CRI, this is Huang Shan.
Gold culture treasure returned to ChinaA
batch58 of cultural
relics59 has been returned by the French government to China.
The 32 pieces of gold accessories bearing a history of 2800 years were dug out by tomb robbers in a small county of China's Gansu province and
smuggled60 abroad in 1990s.
Bai Jian, deputy director of the cultural relics bureau in Gansu, says a large number of cultural relics were lost abroad in 1990s and the 32 pieces of treasure were among them.
"In the early 1990s, tomb robbing was
rampant61 near burial sites dating back to Qin Dynasty in Li county of Bansu province. The national cultural relics bureau and the local government
jointly62 launched a campaign to crack down on tomb robbing. Some of the treasure was
reclaimed63 by authorities during the campaign. Yet a large amount of it is still missing that has great value in archaeological studies."Chinese authorities have spent years tracking the lost treasure and found they were purchased by a private collector in France and later donated to a national museum called Guimet.
The treasure was returned in the name of its donator after the collector consented to withdraw the donation to the museum.

The bailout is
conditional64 on Greece passing agreed reforms by Wednesday.

Scott Walker declared running for presidential 2016Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has declared his candidacy for US President.
Walker has cast himself as a fighter who muscled through an aggressive conservative agenda in a state that typically supports
Democrats65.
"And so, after a great of thought, and a whole lot of prayer, we are so honored to have you join with us here today as we officially announce that we are running to serve as your president of the United States of America."The 47- year-old governor became the 15th high-profile republican to enter the presidential contest.
Walker begins his 2016 presidential bid with at least 20 million US dollars to spread his message.
The Republican field is already crowded with contenders, including former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Texas Senator
Ted1 Cruz, and Louisana Governor Bobby Jindal.
Mexico Hunts Escaped Drug LordMexican police are hunting the drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman who escaped from a maximum security prison on Saturday night.
Mexico's Interior Minister Miguel Chong says the escaped drug lord must have had cooperation from prison officials.
"We can't omit that, to achieve his goal, the now
fugitive66 (referring to Guzman) must have had the complicity of personnel and or officials from the Altiplano prison."The Mexican government is offering 3.8 million dollars for information leading to Guzman's capture.
Forty-nine people have been questioned by the government's organized crime unit, including 32 prison employees.
Guzman is considered one of the world's richest and most powerful drug traffickers.
In 2001, Guzman
bribed67 guards to help him escape from a prison near the city of Guadalajara after a previous arrest in 1993.
He was recaptured last year after another prison escape.
China's dog
activist68 fights for animal rightsAnchor:
Many dog lovers in China are now beginning to fight what they see as barbarous abuses of man's best friend.
Pensioner69 Yang Xiaoyun has gone from school teacher to one of China's most well-known and controversial animal rights
activists70,
lauded71 for her direct approach to rescuing pooches in
distress72.
CRI's Guo Yan reports.
Reporter:
Over the past twenty years Yang Xiaoyun has saved thousands of dogs from the slaughterhouse and the streets, and continues to raise some of them in her home city of Tianjin.
Yang says she is willing to go for broke in trying to rescue dogs.
"I sold both homes. And now I've mortgaged my son's home, and I'm in debt 800,000 yuan. Right now it's just that, if you're going to walk this road, then you must provide for the the dogs adequately."After selling her own home, Yang lives in a
shack73 next to one of her dog compounds.
Yang shot to fame last year after spending 150,000 yuan or more than 24,000 US dollars to rescue about 350 dogs
destined74 for the chopping block at a dog meat festival in Yulin, Southern China.
And this year, she spent over 300,000 yuan to save over 500 dogs from the festival that has triggered heated disputes in the country.
But some worry that by buying up dogs en masse, Yang is simply encouraging more people like lazy owners or dog snatchers to sell their animals to
compassionate75 activists.
The day Yang visited Yulin's dog market, many there said they had come with the hope of selling their dogs to Yang and her helpers.
Although
countless76 dog lovers and volunteers are at Yang's side, she has on occasion found herself at
odds77 with some other animal rights groups.
Yang once got into an argument with members of another group after they stopped a truck which they claimed was transporting over 500 live dogs to a slaughterhouse.
Yang said that the volunteers went "too far" when they occupied a busy highway to stop the truck and smashed its front windshield, prompting local police authorities to escort the vehicle to the slaughterhouse.
"Right now the volunteers are stopping the truck and not letting them go, you know? Right now, the police, and the bureau of animal control are supporting the men driving this truck."Yang also said that such clashes between volunteers and activists have become more common in recent years pending the introduction of an animal protection law.

China stresses anti-fascist role in WWIIChinese scholars have stressed that the Communist Party of China played an essential role during the WWII.
A scholar from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Wang Jianlang says Chinese forces killed, wounded and captured over 1.5 million Japanese troops in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
China suffered a total of 35 million military and non-military causualties over the course of the war.
Official property loss was valued at more than 100 billion dollars.
The Kuomintang Party was also a key in the anti-fascist war.
That party's important role is mainly shown in its organization of the frontline battlefield and participation in more than 20 critical battles.
In addition, the Kuomintang offered significant support for the British army and contributed to the world anti-fascist war.
30 killed in S. Indian stampedeAt least 30 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a stampede at a religious festival in South India.
The festival is held once every 12 years to celebrate rivers.
Witnesses on the scene say that the 30 people were
trampled84 to death on the spot.
All of the injured have been sent to hospitals.
Police say death
toll85 might go up as some of the injured were in serious condition.

Gao Shang on Steel Industry Profit DeclineAnchor:
Global rating agency Moody's has downgraded its outlook for the Asian steel industry to "negative", based on
continental95 steelmakers' declining profitability amid a growing supply
glut96.
The outlook had been "stable" since August last year, when it was changed from "negative".
Moody's says the outlook reflects its expectations for business conditions over the next 12 months.
In the first four months of this year, demand for Chinese steel, as measured by total output minus net exports, declined by 4 percent,
versus97 a 2.5-percent drop in the whole of last year.
The agency predicts that steel demand from Southeast Asia and India will probably increase but will be
insufficient98 to
offset99 the decline in China.
On the other hand, steel production and capacity will remain stable as Chinese steel companies increase exports, especially given the price
premiums101 for steel outside of China.

analyst102 with Guantong

China's new yuan loans pick up in H1Official data shows China's new yuan-denominated loans reached about 6.5 trillion yuan or over one trillion U.S. dollars in the first half of this year.
The volume was about 537 billion yuan more than the same period of last year.
M2, a broad measure of money supply that covers cash in circulation and all deposits, increased 11.8 percent year on year to some 133 trillion yuan at the end of June.
The growth was higher than 10.8 percent at the end of May, but was lower than 12.2 percent at the end of last year.
HSBC analyst Qu Hongbin says the
rebound104 in M2 is largely related to the heavy increase in new loans and easing monetary policies in previous months.
Meanwhile, the narrow measure of money supply (M1), which covers cash in circulation plus demand deposits, expanded 4.3 percent year on year to about 35 trillion yuan at the end of last month.
The stockpile of foreign exchange reserves stood at 3.69 trillion U.S. dollars by the end of June.
Tsinghua Unigroup Offers to Buy Micron Technology for $23b: ReportIt's being reported that state-backed Chinese private
equity105 firm Tsinghua Unigroup is preparing to buy US memory chipmaker Micron Technology for 23 billion U.S. dollars.
Tsinghua is said to offer 21 U.S. dollars per share for Micron, which is at a 19.3 percent
premium100 to the stock's close on Monday.
If it goes ahead, the deal would be the biggest ever Chinese takeover of a US company.
However, a Micron spokesman said the company had not received an offer.
Any foreign takeover of Micron would likely have to pass a review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
The deal could also face
scrutiny106 from China's National Development and Reform Commission.
The NDRC must approve outbound investments worth more than 2 billion U.S. dollars or those in sensitive industries.
China basically finishes drafting legislation of property taxEconomic Information Daily has reported that China has
essentially107 finished drafting the law on property tax.
According to the report, property tax will likely be composed of tax on real estate and on urban land usage.
Analysts108 believe that drafting the legislation of property tax could be a strong push to China's drive towards a healthy fiscal and tax system.
The property tax reform is also expected to
curb109 China's asset bubble risks and help local governments reduce their reliance on land sales income.
It could also help the country to stabilize the real estate market and its overall economic growth.

SportsNBA: Jeremy Lin signs 2-year $4.25-Million contract with Charlotte HornetsFirst up some basketball news from NBA,Free agent guard Jeremy Lin has been officially introduced as the newest member of the Charlotte Hornets.
The 26-year-old Taiwan player agreed to a two-year deal on Wednesday with the Hornets that will pay him around 4.3 million USD.
In the second half of the 2011-12 season with the New York Knicks, Lin turned from a waiver-wire
pickup113 to a late season phenomenon with a
knack114 for big shots and solid production, averaging 14.4 points per game.
After the 2012 season he left the New York Knicks spent two seasons with the Houston Rockets.
Lin said he has no regrets about his leaving.
"You know in Summer League it was like I only had one team that offered me a spot on
roster115 on the Summer League team and same thing with New York like I only had one contract offer and it actually wasn't from New York, it was from Houston. So, even if I did want to go back to New York there was no contract to sign. So it was very obvious I think this free agency situation is the exact same thing I thought it was another team the whole time and then like that just wasn't an option this came out of nowhere at the end indeed. So, no regrets. I know exactly like as long as I have the peace inside of knowing this is where God wants me I'm
perfectly116 okay."Since leaving the New York Knicks, where Linsanity originated, Lin hasn't lived up to the promise that he originally showed, but he's hoping he can kick-start his career in North Carolina under Hornets coach Steve Clifford.
Lin said the "Linsanity" era has gone and he's a much improved player now.
"I do believe like I am a more refined player more all around player I do think the work I've put in has made me better I just don't think I've had the same fit or opportunity and that doesn't mean that I don't have a ton of areas to get better at, because I do, but I think one thing that I want to do is just kind of see how close I can get to reaching my full potential."The Hornets were last in the NBA in 3-point shooting in 2014-15 and the team has made three pre-draft trades with that in mind.
One-third of Charlotte's roster has already changed from last season.

EntertainmentMonkey King: Hero is back atop Chinese box officeMonkey King: Hero is Back," directed by Tian Xiaopeng, has grossed more than 100 million yuan, which is 16.11 million US dollars in just three days.
This success was hard-earned, since the film's screenings were scheduled alongside two teen-targeted blockbusters, "Tiny Times 4" and "Forever Young," which raked in 360 million yuan and 255 million yuan, respectively, over the weekend.
On its opening day, "Monkey King: Hero is Back" only claimed six percent of the total screenings of all films in China.
But the word-of-mouth effect worked, and as more and more fans flocked to screenings of the
