But local government denied that the suicide was connected to a new rule on cremation.
According to a notice from Anqing government on March 25, all corpses11 must be cremated12 after June 1st.
Anqing was one of two cities in the province which still allowed coffin9 burial. At the end of 2013, only 11 percent of deceased in the city were cremated, far lower than the provincial13 average of 80 percent.
