In Northern Ireland, peace talks conclude with a landmark¹ deal aimed at ending 30 years of a bitter rival reason bloody² attacks. Negotiators sign The Good Friday Agreement, calling for power-sharing between Protestants and Catholics in the troubled region.

1912, the Titanic³ sets sail from Southampton England on its maiden⁴ voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. That journey ends in tragedy just days later when the British luxury liner sinks after hitting an iceberg⁵.

1925, F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Great Gatsby, the novel about the American dream during the warring 20th is first published.
