　　世界卫生组织于1988年1月将每年的12月1日定为世界艾滋病日（World AIDS Day）。世界艾滋病日的标志是红丝带，今年的活动主题仍为“行动起来，向‘零’艾滋迈进”（Getting to Zero）。
　　中国疾病预防控制中心（Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention）的数据显示，截至2015年10月底，全国报告存活的艾滋病病毒感染者和病人共计57.5万例，死亡17.7万人。在性传播（sexual transmission）、血液传播（blood-borne transmission）和母婴传播（mother-to-child transmission）三种主要的艾滋病病毒传播途径中，异性性接触（heterosexual activities）传播占66.6%，同性性行为（homosexual activities）传播已经占到了27.2%。
　　同时调查显示，我国青少年感染艾滋病人数上升，男男性行为（men who have sex with men ，MSM）成青年学生染病“祸因”。
　　同时，我们看到，过去15年来，全球在应对艾滋病方面取得了巨大成就。截至2015年6月，1580万人得到抗逆转录治疗（antiretroviral therapy），比5年前翻了一番，而2000年这一数字只有1000万人，终结艾滋病不是不可能完成的目标。
