 Fans of the Star Wars movies have a special day to celebrate the films, characters and culture of the franchise1. That day is May the 4th. Why this day? It is not the day on which the first Star Wars was released, nor is it director George Lucas' birthday. It falls on this day because the date sounds like a famous quote from the movie: "May the Force be with you". This is spoken among the Jedi Knights2 as they prepare to battle Darth Vader. The term was also used in the election of Margaret Thatcher3 – Britain's first female Prime Minister. So what do people do on May the 4th to celebrate Star Wars? The official website for the day, maythe4th.starwars.com, gives "10 fun ways you can celebrate your love of a galaxy4 far, far away". Top of the list is to have a Star Wars movie marathon and watch all the movies one after the other. However, there could be a problem here, as the site asks: "Do you start with the prequels or the original trilogy?" Of course, dressing5 up is important, so make sure you get out your Stormtrooper or Darth Vader uniform. The site even suggests preparing blue milk and has its own recipe. Perhaps the best suggestion is donate any Star Wars related toys you have to charities.
