Beyond the bright colors that playfully cover the building fronts the town is also especially known for its 3D art pieces and paintings at the base of all of the buildings, or zocalos. The Zocalos pull the creative inspiration together across the town and make artwork accessible in the streets. The drawings range from sprawling¹ swirls² and renditions of the townscape to traditional animal portraits and some of the best sculpture zocalos are human masks that stick out of the building bases. There is a unique vibrancy³ that sets this town apart!

Just outside of the town there is some unique history to explore as well with a gigantic rock formation that features an exposed vertical⁴ face standing⁵ 200 meters high which visitors can scale up to find food vendors⁶ and a viewing area. From the manmade lake nearby visitors can also see the top of the cross of the old Guatape Church poking⁷ out of the water!
