It comes after the Chinese and Vietnamese presidents' pledged to handle maritime6 issues through dialogue and to strengthen bilateral7 relations.

On the sidelines of the APEC meetings in November, President Xi Jinping met with his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang in Beijing.

President Xi called on both sides to cement the improving momentum8 of relations between the two countries by enhancing communications.
