 At least 43 people died and hundreds more were hurt in a stampede(2) at a soccer stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. Police spokesman² Chris Wilkin says: “Some wanted to get onto the stadium and others wanted to get onto the playfield and then there was a stampede. And some then just scurried(3) everywhere to get away from all these masses of people”.
