They go to school, and I see them go by each day with their books andslates. 他们在上学，我看到他们每天带着书和画板去上学。

He is a good boy, and wants to keep the rule of the school. 他是个好男孩，想遵守学校的规定。

Ned is not a good boy. I do not think he likes to go to school or to church¹. 内德可不是个好孩子。我觉得他不喜欢上学或去教堂。

I saw² him try to kill³ a quail⁴ with a stone.  我看到过他想用石头砸死一只鹌鹑。

The quail is too quick a bird for that, and Ned did⁵ not hurt it; 鹌鹑是一种非常敏捷的鸟，内德没能伤到它。

but I know that a good child would⁶ not try to kill a bird. 但我认为，一个好孩子绝不会想把鸟弄死的
