The students were lined up in the cafeteria¹ for lunch.  学生们在食堂排队吃午餐。

At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.  在桌子的一头有一大堆苹果。

The nun² made a note, and posted on the apple tray:  修女写了一张纸条，贴在苹果托盘上:

"Take only one. God is watching." “只能拿一个。上帝在看着你。”

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.  顺着午餐队伍往前走，在桌子的另一端有一大堆巧克力饼干。

A child had written a note,  一个孩子写了一张纸条，

"Take all you want. God is watching the apples." “想要多少拿多少，上帝正看着苹果呢。”

1.lined up 排队；按顺序

例句：They quickly lined up in the playground.

他们很快在操场上排好了队。

2.the head of 领头的；负责的

例句：He is the head of a very good concern.

他是一家有信用的商号的负责人。

3.posted on 粘；贴；挂

例句："No Smoking³" sings should be posted on the door and inside the patient's room.

应把“禁止吸烟”的牌子挂在在门上和病房内。

4.At the end of 结尾；结束

例句：At the end of the concert, the audience stood and clapped.

音乐会结束时，观众起立鼓掌。
