Mississippi's US Senate runoff election is today. Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is dealing1 with multiple racial controversies2 as she faces Democrat3 Mike Espy4.

Special Counsel, Robert Mueller, says former Trump5 campaign chair Paul Manafort lied repeatedly to federal investigators6 and violated his plea deal. This could subject Manafort to more prison time but cost Mueller a key witness.

Demonstrators in Alabama protesting a police shooting of Ej Bradford Jr. shut down the busy high way. They also marched through the mall, where police responding to a shooting killed Bradford before concluding he wasn't the gunman.

The first picture from the Insight spacecraft on Mars shows a sandy surface and one sizeable rock. The unmanned craft landed on Mars on Monday after a 6-minute plunge7 through the Mars atmosphere.
